About HLCC Construction
Built on Integrity.
Rooted in the Rockies.
HLCC Construction has been a trusted general contractor in Steamboat Springs and northwest Colorado since 2001. We’re not just building structures here — we’re building lasting relationships in the community we call home.
In 2001, Travis Holmquist and Chad Hare launched HLCC Construction with a clear vision: bring a higher standard of professionalism, collaboration, and craftsmanship to mountain-resort construction. More than two decades later, that vision has produced an extensive portfolio of custom homes, commercial buildings, hospitality projects, and community institutions across Steamboat Springs and the surrounding region.
Building in a mountain resort environment is a distinct discipline. The terrain is challenging, the climate is unforgiving, and the expectations of property owners in resort communities are high. HLCC has thrived in this environment by doing the things that matter most — listening carefully to clients, planning thoroughly before breaking ground, and holding every trade and subcontractor to the same standards we hold ourselves.
Along the way, we’ve built lasting partnerships with the region’s best architects, engineers, and subcontractors. Those relationships — forged on job sites and strengthened through shared values — are a core reason HLCC consistently delivers projects on schedule and on budget.

Our Core Values
At HLCC, our core values aren’t a poster on the wall — they’re the standard we hold ourselves to on every project, every day.
Teamwork — We believe the best outcomes come from genuine collaboration between owners, designers, and builders. We invite everyone to the table early and keep them there throughout construction.
Performance — We set clear expectations and hold ourselves accountable for meeting them. Deadlines and budgets are commitments, not suggestions.
Integrity — We operate with complete transparency. When challenges arise — and in construction, they always do — we communicate directly and work toward honest solutions.
Quality — From the first nail to the final punch list item, we don’t accept work that doesn’t meet our standards. Our crews take pride in what they build.
Safety — Our people are our most valuable asset. A rigorous culture of safety protects our team, your project, and everyone on the job site.
Enjoyment — We genuinely love what we do, and we think it shows. Great projects should be a positive experience for everyone involved.
Our Commitment to Safety and Efficiency
HLCC has been recognized six times with the Pinnacol Assurance Circle of Safety Award — in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2016, and 2017. Fewer than 1% of Pinnacol’s 56,000 policyholders earn this distinction, which recognizes organizations that demonstrate an exceptional commitment to workplace safety and sound risk management practices.
For HLCC, safety is non-negotiable. Every crew member goes through safety training, every job site follows strict protocols, and every project plan builds in the precautions that protect our people and our clients’ investments.
As with any company the strength of it comes from the top. Travis Holmquist and Chad Hare along with office manager, Pegi Simmerman, alone bring over 75 years of experience to any project HLCC enters into. Our past and present clients can attest to how very organized and professional a company we are.
